Suspect arrested for business break-in and theft

HALFWAY HOUSE – Constable Eliot Mabulane, spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station said that the suspect has appeared in the Midrand Magistrates Court to answer for a charge of business breaking and theft.


A suspect was arrested after breaking into a supermarket and stealing one of the employee’s cellphone from their locker on January 14.

According to Midrand Police Station spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane, the crime took place in Halfway House.

The suspect broke into the business via the shop’s roller door.

Mabulane said the suspect was interrogated until he came clean and told the police where he had hidden the cellphone.

He added the suspect told the police that he broke open the roller door and the locker of the employee, where he searched a bag and found a cellphone.

“The suspect was detained at the Midrand Police Station’s cells and appeared in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court on a charge of business break-in and theft.

Mabulane thanked everyone who played a role in apprehending the suspect.
