Deppe, who came out tops for Ward 132 and will be councillor for the next five years, said, “My journey as councillor has been rewarding and challenging, with moments of heartache, but what has made me get up every day to serve the people of Joburg is the love for my city and my country.”

Deppe said she has learnt that all the community wants is someone to listen and escalate issues quickly, because residents may feel a disconnect between them and the City officials in terms of service delivery.

She added that the most touching moments in her long service in Midrand include her work as constituency chair for Midrand and the charity work she did for the City during the pandemic.
