Learners are supported to stay in school

PRESIDENT PARK – OneSpark and Bathu shoes donated school shoes to Nokuphila School for less fortunate children around Midrand townships.

In a bid to help children from less fortunate backgrounds stay in school, insurance company OneSpark partnered with Bathu Shoes and donated hundreds of pairs of school shoes to the beneficiaries of Nokuphila School on September 29.

Nokuphila School is an initiative of The Love Trust – a foundation that ensures learners from vulnerable communities around Midrand are given an equal opportunity to succeed.

OneSpark co-founder and joint chief executive officer, Josh Kaplan, said the work done by The Love Trust foundation was truly inspirational. “To maintain a pass rate of 95% in this crazy world we all live in is unheard of.

“Making sure that small kids have an opportunity to access quality education. This Heritage Month, we wanted to work with local brands like Bathu – who are doing an enormous amount of positive work in their own right and try and contribute to making sure that all learners get an equal opportunity to access education through a very small means and that is school shoes.”

Mashudu Ndopu commended the work done by The Love Trust and Nokuphila School and said the partnership felt like it was meant to be.

Her team also brought food items for the learners to eat and some to take home. “It is a good thing for the children to be reminded that as they are walking their journey, they need to grab their dreams with their own hands. We will assist them along the way,” added Ndopu.

Themba Temba, the school principal at Nokuphila School, shared his appreciation of the work done by the two companies at his school.
