Local women’s group shares hope
WATERFALL – The women's group aimed to spread hope during this tough time.
Women from a Midrand-based church prayed for patients and let them know they were thinking of them outside Waterfall Hospital on August 21.
Victorious Women is a women’s group of Hope Restoration Ministries led by reverend Chris Mathebula and pastor Phindi Mathebula. After the group’s morning jog, they stood outside the hospital on Waterfall Drive giving patients comfort in the early hours of the morning.
Sibongile Dube, who led the initiative under the church’s theme ‘Embrace’ as part of Women’s Month, said they were embracing this tough period posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. “We are, however, embracing this season with hope as we are spreading hope to our community.
Dube added, “One of the ways we are spreading this hope is just by reaching out to people that are ill, and with Covid-19 in the picture, many might know some people who are hospitalised including those hospitalised for other reasons.”
“As difficult a season as it is now, people cannot visit and patients cannot see their families. This is a way we try and keep hope alive – by coming to the hospital, praying for the patients and finding a way to make sure they do win over their difficult circumstances which they are faced with.”
Dube hoped that as they stood outside the hospital, patients would stand by their windows and wave back and see that there were people thinking of them.
