Take My Hand foundation supports the less fortunate

MIDRAND – Palesa Pusoe said that she was on a mission to support local small businesses and those less fortunate and would love your support to continue doing so.

Palesa Pusoe, the founder of Take My Hand foundation based in Midrand, is on a mission to support local small businesses and those less fortunate.

Pusoe said as Covid-19 had affected so many families as well as small businesses, she decided to come up with a solution to save both. Her foundation supports small businesses and vendors by purchasing their food, masks and sanitisers and giving them to families in need.

“South Africa has a high rate of single mothers. The majority of breadwinners are women who sell vegetables and fruits in the streets, and with Covid-19 restrictions it is becoming very difficult and sometimes impossible to make an income,” she added.

“Instead of purchasing from big corporations that will remain open regardless of the Covid-19 restrictions, my aim is to support the small businesses as much as I can.”

Pusoe said thus far they have been able to support about 20 families and five business owners and hoped to reach more families and more business owners soon.

She added that during Mandela Month, they aimed to give food parcels, masks, soap and sanitiser to about 67 families with the help of Thulawazi Foundation.

“We also want to involve the youth and awaken their spirit of giving. Giving is an addiction, once you start and see the faces of the people lighten up because of the little you have done, you can never stop.

“People can assist by helping us identify small businesses that sell vegetables, fruits, beans, soap, masks, sanitisers as well as mini bus or van companies. They could also lend a hand when we deliver food parcels.”

She said any help was really helpful. “Anything that is food is a target. Hygiene products are very essential especially during this pandemic. as well as donations of money.

“Interested donors can call or Whatsapp. We want to thank our trusted sponsors Porcelanosa South Africa for their generous support as well as Continua Cape Town for lending a helping hand.”
