Shopping centre wants to partner with the community to help those in need

KYALAMI – Afton de Klerk, Kyalami Corner centre manager, urges shoppers to donate the listed stationery items which can be purchased in the outlets at the centre and dropped off in donation boxes.

Kyalami Corner shopping centre is calling on the public to assist Tshwaranang Orphan and Vulnerable Children’s home by making donations of school stationery.

The home, located in Ivory Park empowers children through educational initiatives and supports orphaned and vulnerable children, 300 of which are mainly part of child-headed households. Kyalami Corner therefore aims to work with the public in donating stationery to the home, as part of the extension of the ‘Santa goes back to school’ campaign that started in December last year.

Afton de Klerk, the centre manager said education was a gateway to overcoming poverty, and a single stationery pack could go a long way towards a child realising their full potential. “Kyalami Corner has stepped in by assisting vulnerable children with the basic tools needed to learn and actively participate in school activities. “With a staggering number of about 2.8 million orphans in South Africa, many of whom struggle to afford basic needs or stationery for school, Kyalami Corner appeals to its community of shoppers to make a difference towards a child’s education.”

He added, “Shoppers are urged to donate the listed stationery items which can be purchased in the outlets at the centre and dropped off in donation boxes. If there is something we can do as a community to help these kids, we should do it.

“Kyalami Corner aims to play its part by fulfilling Tshwaranang’s wish list for this year which includes stationery packs.”

These packs include:

  • 100 files
  • 100 exam pads
  • 100 black pens
  • 100 hard files
  • Five 500 sheet Typek paper boxes
  • Black toner for Samsung MLTD 111
  • 100 file dividers
  • Four big punchers
  • Four big staplers.
