Happy new year from the Society for Animals in Distress

The Society for Animals in Distress look back at 2020 and shares their thoughts in their year-end message.

Executive general manager of the organisation, Heather Robertson said that this year had been one of tremendous change impacting already poor communities, and financial pressure on donors.

She said, “The Society for Animals in Distress, in our capacity as a welfare veterinary care provider, delivered expansive human support and animal care in 2020. Witnessing the ravages of poverty daily, we are immensely grateful to donors for supporting us in our efforts to meet the challenges that our beneficiaries are faced with.”

She added that their rapid change from public event fundraising to online opportunities was a major learning curve for the society. “We learnt that our digital knowledge limitations and fears could be faced head on.
“The society is dependent on donor support and care. We honour this care with the sustainable results we achieve and our deep commitment to driving access to veterinary care for animals affected by indigent circumstances.

“We learnt that the sustainable income efforts we have employed, and continue to develop, will bolster our ability to serve indigent communities and their animals.

“The Society wishes all Caxton readers and their animals, a safe, blessed, and healthy festive season. May our gratitude turn what we have been blessed with into enough, and more.”
