Christ Church Grade 12s say goodbye

JOBURG– The 2020 matric class at Christ Church Preparatory School and College took part in the traditional bell-ringing ceremony to mark the end of their school career.

The Christ Church Preparatory School and College matric class attended their final assembly followed by the school’s traditional bell-ringing ceremony.

Spokesperson for the school Dawn Schmitz said, “This was an emotional event as the Class of 2020 has managed to jump all the hurdles placed in their way in order to arrive at this point in the year.”

Following the assembly, the school performed the tradition of ringing the school bell to mark the end of their time with the school.

Schmitz said, “It is a tradition at Christ Church Preparatory School and College that every Grade 8 pupil rings the school bell to mark their arrival into the college.”

She added, “2020 has been a very challenging year, and the Christ Church College matric group has achieved amazing feats. They now prepare to write their final IEB exams which will commence soon.”

Principal of the school David Bell said, “The assembly saw us go down memory lane which was an amazing experience and take a look at the incredible group of matrics we had this year, some of which had been at the school for over 13 years. It was great to see how they’ve grown.”

Bell added that this year’s matric class had shown tremendous leadership throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. He said, “Obviously, they were the first group of students back in June and they set a great example to other grades.”

He concluded, “It’s fantastic to see the type of young adult leaders our matric students have become and that they come from our school. If they are our society’s future leaders, I think our country will be in good hands.”
