Celebration of heritage for Curro Midrand

HALFWAY GARDENS – The learners from Curro Midrand Halfway Gardens Campus celebrated Heritage Day over two days.

The staff and leaners from Curro Midrand Halfway Gardens campus celebrated Heritage Day on 21 and 22 September.

Head of the school Vanitha Govindasamy said that the celebrations took place over two days to cater for all learners and their timetables while giving them the opportunity to learn about the various cultures that make up their school community.

The learners dressed in traditional attire and were encouraged to share a performance or bring a traditional lunch to share with their classmates.

Govindasamy said, “It was great that having moved to lockdown Level 1 our learners got the chance to celebrate Heritage Day 2020…

“The learners took part in a fashion parade, songs, poetry and dances to showcase their varied and diverse cultural heritage. It was a great learning experience for our learners as learners got the opportunity to learn a little about each other’s culture.

“We hope that the day taught the learners to be proud of the cultural heritage while at the same time learning to respect and appreciate the diverse and varied cultures that make up our beautiful rainbow nation.”
