Rabie Ridge Police Station shuts down two shebeens in operation

RABIE RIDGE – Rabie Ridge police conducted a stop-and-search while accompanied by the South African Defence Force in Rabie Ridge.

The Rabie Ridge Police Station conducted a major operation in the area, closing down two illegal shebeens.

The Rabie Ridge Police conducted a raid on 21 September in Rabie Ridge, Mayibuye, Kanana, and Phomolong which led to them confiscating alcohol and closing down two shebeens.

According the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson Constable Jacob Nhlongo, the operation began with a parade at the Rabie Ridge Police Station at 6am. “The operation was supported by the South African National Defence Force.

“The purpose of the operation was to patrol the area and look out for business robberies, car hijackings, theft of motor vehicles and closing of illegal shebeens.

“We conducted a stop-and-search around Rabie Ridge, Mayibuye, Kanana and Phomolong.

“The operation went on until 2pm and we were able to shut down two illegal shebeens before confiscating their liquor.”

Nhlongo added that both shebeen owners were given fines for operating illegally.

He concluded that no serious crimes were reported during the time of the operation.
