Ivory Park woman allegedly stabs ex-boyfriend

IVORY PARK – Ivory Park Police Station Commander Brigadier David Ngcobo commended community members for playing guard and not taking the law into their own hands at local crime scene.

A 32-year-old woman from Ivory Park was arrested on 7 September in Ivory Park after allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death following an argument.

According to the Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane, the deceased went to his former girlfriend’s place to demand money he gave her the night before.

“Both parties were allegedly drunk and got into a scuffle. After the fight, which happened outside, the suspect was seen by a witness stabbing the deceased once in the chest. The victim succumbed to his injury shortly afterwards, and was certified dead at the scene.

“It is not exactly clear as of now what the money demanded was for and the exact nature of the battle, but all of these will form part of further investigations into what the source of the fight was about,” said Matimulane.

Ivory Park Police Station Commander Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, welcomed the arrest and thanked the community members who played guard in ensuring that the suspect and the evidence were secured up until the police arrived.

“We are glad that our police officers managed to secure the evidence, including the weapon that was allegedly used in the murder.

“It is becoming the norm for some community members to take the law in their own hands under these circumstances.”

The suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer to a charge of murder.
