Help feed struggling Rabie Ridge residents

Deppe will be providing hampers that will feed families for one week in an effort to alleviate hunger in the community.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe appeals to local residents to donate funds and food to provide 100 meals to individuals in Kanana in Rabie Ridge on 16 May.

Deppe said she has identified families in need who will receive the parcels.

“Ward 80 is a very poor community and many residents don’t have jobs at the moment and have no means of getting food,” said Deppe.

“We are only requesting support for this community because the need is so huge.”

Deppe will be providing hampers that will feed families for one week in an effort to alleviate hunger in the community.

She requests that community members donate the following items: mielie meal, 5kg rice, 2.5kg sugar, 1kg soya, 1kg salt, 880g peanut butter, tea bags, baked beans, tinned fish, dishwashing liquid, all-purpose cleaner, laundry bars of soap, 2 litres oil, blankets, face cloths, bleach and washing powder.

Donations of food can be dropped off at the Vorna Valley SPAR or donated to their relief fund.
