Nova Pioneer shares free online learning packs with the public

HALFWAY GARDENS – Nova Pioneer offers free, downloadable online learning packs for primary school parents.

Nova Pioneer Schools, which have campuses in Midrand and Paulshof, have launched a free-to-use platform on their website, allowing parents to download grade-specific online learning packs to assist children during lockdown.

The packs were designed by the school group’s learning design team and aim to provide parents with instructions on how to best use the materials. They also give guidance on tools that they can use at home in order for lessons to be carried out.

Lesego Puso from Nova Pioneer explained the reason for them opening up these resources to the public. “Our vision statement calls on us to earn the right to contribute beyond our campuses, to society. There is no more important time than now – as the world comes together to tackle Covid-19 – for us to find a way to do that,” said Puso.

Puso said that the school recognised that the majority of learners in South Africa do not have access to quality learning resources and are losing valuable teaching time as a result of school closures. “We felt it was our responsibility to extend our learning materials to as many students as possible.”

“By making our innovative learning material available more broadly, we aim to support more students in continued learning during this unprecedented time.”

Nova Pioneer learners will additionally gain access to teachers and online virtual classrooms.

The school has also partnered with the National Association of Change Entities in Education to provide learning material to children in vulnerable communities across the country.

“Nova Pioneer material will contribute to 10 000 printed learning packs distributed to 60 schools as part of the Amakhosi learning programme in KwaZulu-Natal.”
