Covid-19: JRA will not be fixing most faulty traffic lights during lockdown

JOBURG – The Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) will have a team on standby for emergencies.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has said due to the national lockdown they will not be fixing traffic lights during the lockdown period.

In a statement released on 30 March, JRA said, “Due to the national lockdown, the JRA will not be in a position to fix most of its faulty traffic lights as it aims to protect its employees.”

The statement explained that they expect a decrease in traffic volumes which is why they do not expect traffic congestion.

JRA, however, will have a team on standby in each region in Johannesburg, to fix intersections identified as risky or critical to governments attempt to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you have emergency issues relating to traffic lights, contact Siya Genu from JRA on 071 675 1439.
