Hardships experienced in childhood has inspired a social entrepreneur to pen his thoughts in a book.

Bongani Sibisi (33) inspires dreamers and thinkers with his book The Power of Mind as he takes readers through his journey, the difficulties he encountered and how he managed to survive through thinking positively and channelling his mind to the right path. The book was published in May 2015 and has received huge support from NPOs, government institutions and readers who relate to the book and his background.

The Ivory Park-based author firmly believes that the mind can take you far if you use it correctly. He has numerous qualifications in business management and information technology from MSC Business College in Midrand as well as a qualification in occupational directorate education training from MSC Business College in East London. He is also a co-founding member of Midrand-Tembisa TV and currently enrolled for an LLB degree at Unisa.

Sibisi grew up in Mabena Informal Settlement. “I was raised by a single mother and it was not an easy journey. I used to sell eggs around Ivory Park to make ends meet for the survival of my family.

“I had to use my skills and intelligence to survive and that benefited me in the end. I decided to do other side hustles to raise money for my studies and everything changed the moment I registered in the business college as I had the skills.”

He believes that his mind made him the person he is today, “I used my mind to escape poverty and I believe that everything is possible with a positive mind and attitude.”
