Police investigate business robbery in Austin View

Austin View – Police are asking for assistance in finding four men involved in a business robbery in Austin View.


Four armed men allegedly robbed a filling station located on the corner of Dane and Allandale roads in Austin View on 13 February.

According to the spokesperson for the Rabie Ridge Police Station, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, the complainant who was working behind the till together with his colleague alleged that while on duty two men entered the garage store and bought R10 airtime.

“The two stood inside as if they were observing for a few seconds, then suddenly two other males entered the shop, drew firearms and pointed [the guns] at them demanding money,” Nhlongo said.

“The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the tills as well as cigarettes and some snacks on their way out. The suspects then fled the scene using an unknown vehicle [unidentified as it was dark] which they had parked next to Allandale Road.”

Nhlongo added that a case of business robbery was currently being investigated. “SAPS is appealing to anyone with information regarding the robbery or whereabouts of the suspects to urgently contact Rabie Ridge SAPS.”
