Dog euthanised after being found with severe head trauma
IVORY PARK – The Midrand SPCA urges members of the public to bring in their animals if they are sick or if they notice a sick dog roaming the streets.
Midrand SPCA responded to a call from a community member about a dog spotted at the bottom of a cliff in Ivory Park.
In a Facebook post, the Midrand SPCA explained that a member of the public informed them on 13 January that a dog had been spotted at the bottom of a cliff on the river and added that, at the time, the community member was uncertain if the dog was still alive.
When inspector Jerry Seemise arrived at the scene, he found the dog alive but, unfortunately, the dog had distemper and had sustained severe head trauma. “Sadly, this poor boy was too far gone to save and he was humanely euthanised in order to end his suffering.”
The Midrand SPCA thanked the community member who alerted them to the situation and asked all members of the public to act when an animal is or looks ill. “We would also like to appeal to the public to please bring in their animals if they are sick or notice a sick dog roaming the streets so that we may prevent unnecessary suffering and pain for these animals.”
