“The noticeable improvements this year can be attributed to the implementation of a strategic plan to grow and improve both sport and culture at the school in 2017,” added Sathiah.

“Part of the plan was to improve coaching as well as to introduce a bigger variety of sport at the school. The benefits of strategy are evident, with various sports and culture disciplines achieving great results.”

Director of sport and culture, Alviro Petersen explained that the school has witnessed incredible growth in sport and culture this year. “Since our mission remains to grow and improve, there will be some important developments in 2020 and an introduction of new sports choices.

“We will also introduce our Talented Athlete Support (TAS) programme to ensure that we provide the necessary support to all our students in keeping with the demands of our time while excelling in sport, culture and life in general.”

The school’s deputy principal, Lisa Twaddle also addressed the learners and parents adding that whilst academics are a priority in any school, they firmly believe that a holistic approach to education, where the child is exposed to cultural and sporting activities, is beneficial to any child.

Twaddle concluded, “One of the school’s core values is maximising individual potential. Our cultural and sporting activities allow pupils to reach their potential in areas other than academics.”
