Kyalami Preparatory School Grade 7s prove that they mean business

KYALAMI – Kyalami Preparatory School Grade 7 learners host a market day for the schools annual Entrepreneurs Day.


Kyalami Preparatory School Grade 7s hosted an Entrepreneurs Day which was enjoyed by learners and teachers.

Speaking on behalf of the school, teacher Sharlene Wright said the day was a school tradition and was an annual event undertaken by the Grade 7s.

She added that the children enjoyed making business cards, posters, jingles, flyers and a PowerPoint presentation to market their businesses.

“They sold a variety of products, one of which had to be handmade by themselves. The level of creativity was a delight to see. Other activities included The Hamster Ball, Sumo wrestling and the Rocket Ride. A big hit was all the delicious food.”

Learners of Kyalami Preparatory School enjoy the rodeo at the school’s Entrepreneurs Day.

Wright said the children applied a number of entrepreneurial skills including critical thinking, resilience, grit and collaboration. “I am confident those qualities will hold them in good stead for the future in an ever-changing world. It was wonderful to observe their innovative ideas and that they were prepared to take risks.

“The proceeds of this event will go towards a leavers’ gift for the school in memory of these Grade 7s.”

Wright added that the day prepared the children for the job market in the future and taught them important problem-solving skills which were essential for entrepreneurs.

She added, “Next year we will be working in conjunction with a company called Future Proof which will give our children more knowledge and skills about entrepreneurship.
