Klipfontein View without water for seven days

KLIPFONTEIN VIEW – Currently Joburg Water has supplied residents in Klipfontein View with water tanks and mobile trucks, while reservoir levels are being monitored.

Johannesburg Water said they were aware of the water shortages in Klipfontein View, Midrand due to the water restrictions implemented by Rand Water since last week.

Joburg Water communications manager Isaac Dhludhlu said in a statement that there were plans being made to resolve the supply problem in the near future. “Currently the area is being supplied by Ekhurleni municipality line which gets impacted as and when by the Rand Water restrictions.”

He said they had engaged with Rand Water on 28 October to get the water levels elevated to an ideal pressure to resume the service of the restrictions in place at Chloorokop reservoir. He said, “The entity had applied to Rand Water to get a direct line feed to Klipfontein View directly and avoid reliance on Ekhurleni.”

For now, the water entity is supplying water to residents via water tanks and roaming trucks to assist, while reservoirs levels are being monitored.

Residents on Twitter said they haven’t had water for a week:

Joburg Water has apologised for the water shortages and urged residents to use water sparingly as water consumptions have drastically increased due to the persistent hot temperatures in Gauteng.
