MIDRAND – Crime Bulletin from Midrand Police station.


Midrand police made a number of arrests including for armed robbery and drug dealing.

The arrests were made in various areas including President Park and Vorna Valley.

Son points firearm at mother

A complainant residing in Waterfall View Estate was watching television when her son came home at about 8pm. She heard her son screaming obscenities as he passed her bedroom before he came into her bedroom with a firearm. The complainant managed to run out of the house and immediately alerted the Midrand police who came to the scene. The son was arrested for pointing of a firearm.

Potential burglar caught on roof

A President Park complainant received a call from their neighbour who informed them that there was someone on top of their roof. The complainant immediately raced home to investigate further. Upon arrival, they found the police and local security officers on the scene who apprehended the 30-year-old suspect who had removed and damaged the tiles on their roof. The suspect was arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft.

Sweet vendor apparently also dabbling in dagga

Midrand police were patrolling Vorna Valley when officers noticed a man who was selling sweets and snacks on the side of the road. The police approached the man and requested to search him and found an undisclosed amount of Ziplock bags filled with dagga. The police questioned the suspect who admitted that he was selling the substance. The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in an illegal substance.

Knife-wielding robbers arrested

A complainant was walking to a local mall in Waterfall City to get money when he was approached by two suspects from behind who held a knife to his neck. The suspects took his wallet and bag before running towards the mall. The complainant screamed for help and a motorcyclist who had witnessed the incident gave chase until local security officers managed to arrest the suspects. They were charged with armed robbery.
