18 dogs kept in one room removed from owner

MIDRAND – Midrand SPCA takes away dogs from the owner who kept them in an unconducive area.

The Midrand SPCA has removed 18 dogs from its owner after they were kept in one unconducive bedroom.

The SPCA said they received information about a number of dogs living in unhealthy conditions in a small confined space.

A statement released by the Midrand SPCA said, “Upon investigation, we were shocked to find 18 dogs living in a one-bedroom unit. The stench of urine and faeces was absolutely overwhelming and whilst the dogs were in a fair condition themselves, the living space was not conducive to their health.”

It added that the owner was issued with a warning to ensure that the premises was cleaned up.

“Upon our return to the premises, we were also joined by the health department. The premises was still filthy with urine and faeces all over.

As our team started taking the dogs outside, many of them started crying. It was evident that they have never been outside and it was unfamiliar to them. The dogs were signed over to the SPCA and are now safely in our care and the situation will be monitored.”

The SPCA has called on the community to rather hand over their pets to the SPCA if they are no longer in a position to keep them.
