Midrand police arrest meth suspects

MIDRAND – Two suspects were arrested after R30 000 of methamphetamine was found in their possession.

The Midrand Police Station, alongside the community policing forum and local security companies, held a roadblock that led to the arrest of two suspects with methamphetamine.

Under the command of the station’s Captain Lionel Chetty, the operation was held in Noordwyk on 12 April.

He said that during the stop-and-search, the police noticed a car with tinted windows and immediately became suspicious.

Chetty added that upon stopping the car, they questioned the driver who took off his jacket and tossed it towards the passenger who held onto it.

“We searched his jacket and found three bags of methamphetamine each [of high value].”

The suspects were arrested and taken to the Midrand Police Station charged with possession of an illegal substance.
