Acts House of Education celebrates five years

MIDRAND – The Act House of Education school celebrated its Founders Day.

The learners and teachers at Acts House of Education got together to celebrate their school’s five-year anniversary on 12 April.

The school hosted a special Founders Day assembly to commemorate five years in operation.

The school officially opened on 14 January 2015, with 131 learners in eight classes from preschool to Grade 6. Over five years, the school has grown to 330 learners in grades R to 11.

The assembly had a host of speeches and performances by schoolchildren. Chairperson of the school, Pastor Peter de Fin said that in founding a school it does not take one person but a team who contributes to its growth and it is wonderful to commemorate the hard work by the community to build Acts House of Education.

He added that going forward, the school will provide great schooling and a safe environment for all learners.

Principal of the school Anny Breedt said, “In the school circle, every five years is the most celebrated. The first five years are called the ‘pioneering years’. So the celebration commemorates the end of our pioneering season and the beginning of more advanced processes and getting to the next level.

“Today is a celebration that shows us that we’re here to stay.”

Breedt said the school has a lot planned for the next five years including their first group of matriculants in 2020, while also moving away from the prefabricated building and having their own land.

The day also hosted a forward movement in the school’s sports programme with the official unveiling of their first netball and basketball courts after a three-year fundraising project. Breedt said that the unveiling links very well with the school’s growth.
