Midrand police seek informers

MIDRAND – The Midrand Police Station is on the lookout for new informers.

The Midrand police are calling on the local community to apply to work as police informers.

Spokesperson for the Midrand Police Station Constable Thabiso Selowa said informers play a significant role in preventing crime and giving the police important information.

She added, “As the police, we patrol on the street, we don’t have authority to patrol in complexes or houses.

“So we need informants to give us information.”

She said informers will be registered at the station where their fingerprints will be taken and there will be a check to see if an applicant has any pending cases against them.

For every bit of information that leads to an arrest, the informer will receive a monetary reward.
