Ivory Park Police Station commend community for assisting in an arrest

IVORY PARK – A community tip-off led to the arrest of a suspect drug dealer in Ivory Park.

The Ivory Park Police Station has commended community members for assisting in the arrest of an alleged drug dealer.

The spokesperson for the Ivory Park Station Captain Bernard Matimulane said, “Two sector policing members were, while on patrol yesterday, stopped by members of the public about someone selling drugs at the Joe Slovo informal settlement at Ivory Park’s Ext 3.”

He added that the police made their way to a shack where they introduced themselves to the occupants before conducting a search where they found a .22 pistol with four rounds of live ammunition.

Matimulane said, “The pistol had its serial number filed off and the owner, a 28-year-old man, had no license at all.”

The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear at the Tembisa Magistrates Court.

Station commander at the Ivory Park Police Station Brigadier David Ngcobo said, “We urge the community to keep coming forward with tip-offs such as this in order to create safer living spaces for all the law-abiding citizens.”
