IN PICTURES: EFF wants a drug-free community in Ivory Park

IVORY PARK – EFF supporters marched to the Ivory Park Police Station to deliver a memorandum yesterday.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Tembisa’s Ward 133 marched to the Ivory Park Police Station to deliver a memorandum of demands to the station commander yesterday, 16 February.

The party is concerned about corruption and drugs affecting their community. The party’s leadership wants police to arrest people who sell nyaope at an informal settlement called ‘Mabena section Ext 6’. Ward 133 chairperson, Klaas Seerane alleged that the drug dealers were not arrested.

“We gave the [police] the address of the place where drugs are sold and even today the business is still operating. If we can go to Mabena section, you will find a group of nyaope addicts and people who are selling drugs there,” he alleged.

“We want them to go and arrest whoever is selling drugs there. We want them to arrest the owner of the building there.”

“People are getting mugged there during daylight. Drugs addicts are taking people’s phones.”
