Midrand Cricket juniors shine

MIDRAND – The Midrand Cricket Club had a mixed bag of results over the weekend.


The Midrand Cricket Club had a tough weekend with there seniors unable to record a victory while their U12 team came out on top.

The U12 team played Bakerton Cricket Club on 2 February. The boys gave a stellar performance and exhibited their tremendous growth as a team, winning by five wickets. The U10 team had a bye over the weekend, while the SA4 team’s fixture against Benoni Northerns was called off due to a wet pitch, leaving both teams to share the spoils.

The first team went head to head against the log leaders Kempton Park in a tough away match. Midrand produced some good lower order batting performances from William Mokgetloane and Vis Govender and posted 74/8, however, it was not enough with the log leaders winning by three wickets.

Midrand’s promo team was thrashed by the Eisburg Eagles on 3 February. The Eagles scored 203 runs with Midrand replying with a miserly 97.
