Suspect is traced after 12 years

MIDRAND – The suspect was initially arrested in 2006 for alleged theft of motor vehicle.

A man from Ivory Park has been arrested in Mpumalanga 12 years after absconding while on bail.

Jabulani Nkosi (41) was first arrested in 2006 for alleged theft of a motor vehicle. He was granted bail the same year but failed to appear in court for his next appearance.

Ivory Park police detectives traced Nkosi and found him in Kriel, Mpumalanga on 23 November this year.

Station commander for the Ivory Park Police Station Brigadier David Ngcobo has welcomed the arrest. “We are not lying or making empty threats when we say the police will leave no stone unturned as we strive to ensure that those that are suspected to have committed crimes are called to account. Regardless of how long it takes,” said Ngcobo.

The suspect appeared in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court for the original crime as well as an additional charge of absconding.
