Midrand resident wants to heal others through music

MIDRAND – A young man finds inspiration and healing from his music.

The 20-year-old Tashwyn Brickles found solace in music after suffering from depression and anxiety while still in high school.

Brickles, the new kid on the block, is working on his first single in contemporary gospel music.

He matriculated from Christ Church Preparatory School and College in 2016 and is currently a second-year BCom Marketing student at Varsity College.

“I had family problems and issues with myself including insecurities for three years while in high school, until I joined a band and music helped me heal and deal with those issues,” said Brickles.

He started learning to play the piano in 2015 and subsequently discovered his talent for singing. He also plays the alto saxophone and guitar which secured him a place in his church band.

He draws his inspiration from his past and present experiences both good and bad. “Tapping into the emotions of those times and acknowledging God’s presence throughout my life has enabled me to see and really appreciate His hand that has been present during every situation that I have faced.”

Brickles said he wishes to provide to other people what he received through music. “I want to bring a solution to life’s problems through my music. I want people to find the healing that I got through music.

“I believe that there is a calling in my life to do contemporary Christian music and use my gifts to worship and edify God’s kingdom and inspire the youth to find their identity and worth in Christ and not on worldly things.”

He is currently signed under JRoss Beats Production records and his first single will be released soon. “I want to encourage young people to stay true to themselves and be genuine at all time. Lastly, for them to know that God loves them.”
