Community runs for charity

MIDRAND – Fun run held at Carlswald North in celebration of Women's Month.

A fun run was held at Carlswald North in Midrand on Women’s Day, 9 August where hundreds of people were in attendance.

The organisers of the event were Stefan and Nicola Kostlin together with Marie Locker and Alyson Strevor.

One of the organisers, Nicola, said they were pleased with the turnout even though the numbers decreased from last year due to the weather.

“In 2016 my husband and I decided to start a fun run at our estate to bring the community together.

“Carlswald North has about 800 houses and 150 flats so it is a large estate.

Nicola added,”The first time we thought about 80 at the most would come but we ended up with about 250 people in attendance and raised R2 500.

“Last year we couldn’t believe that about 450 attended and we raised R6 800.”

All funds raised are shared between the Bothshabelo Babies’ Home and The Society for Animals in Distress.

Nicola thanked the following sponsors:

• Mugg and Bean Carlswald – Juice and muffins
