Metro police initiative inspired by Madiba

MIDRAND – Metro police visits New Jerusalem Children's Home with goodies for all the children.

A visit from Metro police delighted the little ones at the New Jerusalem Children’s Home in President Park.

Metro police’s community outreach unit visited children’s home on 16 July as part of their Mandela Day initiative. Officer Itumeleng Buza said, “We decided to visit the home so we could put a smile on the children’s face with lunch, sweets and cake for all the children.

“We encourage people to avail themselves when it comes to charity and giving back to the community any way they can,” she added.

She was joined by her fellow colleagues Officer Ayanda Mbewu and Officer Nomsa Ndaba. Buza has thanked all the stakeholders including the Mall of Africa Checkers Hyper manager Fanie Pretorius, Ebony Park Spar manager Norman Masuluke and O’ya Sweets.

Public relations officer for the children’s home Raymond Madibogo said, “This is a beautiful initiative from law enforcement. This will influence the children well, to know that law enforcement officers are also people and also care about the well-being of other people.

“I hope that this relationship will be ongoing, but we are most grateful for the treats, good gesture and smiles it put on the children’s faces,” said Raymond.
