Justice served for victim of fatal stabbing during street fight in Phomolong

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police are pleased with the 15 years' imprisonment sentence for murderer Katlego Seema.

Katlego Seema (30) has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court for the murder of Cyril Chiloane (28) on 12 April last year.

Chiloane was fatally stabbed by Seema during a street fight in Phomolong.

Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela said, “It was alleged that a donation of food parcels was being held in the community, but unfortunately some of the beneficiaries arrived drunk and a fight broke out.

“As to what instigated the fight is unknown, but during the brawl, Seema took out a knife he was carrying and stabbed Chiloane in the chest. Chiloane died on the scene.”

The investigating officer was Detective Sergeant Mhlongo who also arrested Seema for the murder.

“During Seema’s appearance in court, the accused failed to show any remorse for his actions. Law, as well as justice, was demonstrated when the accused was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.”

The station commander and management applauded the detective for his dedication on the case.

“Crime does not pay, this should serve as a lesson to all criminals and show the community how important is it to support and work with the police,” concluded Masela.
