Midrand High School netball teams shine

MIDRAND – Three of the four Midrand netball teams walked away with medals and trophies.

 

Midrand High School netball teams played exceptionally well in the Derik-Knipe sports tournament at Sagewood High School.

The annual tournament which is hosted by Sagewood took place on 19 May with various schools participating from as far afield as North West province.

Sports administrator at Midrand High School Kwazi Shangase said four of their teams played in the tournament and three of them walked away with medals and trophies. The U15 netball team went through the tournament unbeaten. “They were untouched and cruised straight to victory snatching the prize as though they had no competition,” said Shangase.

Midrand’s U18s beat the hosts 28–11 to claim first position. “They fought like warriors and showed everyone why they are the best in the east.” A junior and senior player of Midrand took home player of the tournament awards for their outstanding performance.

Meanwhile, Midrand High School U15 soccer team lost their final in a penalty shootout to St Catherine College to bag a silver medal.

“We are so proud of the girls and boys. We hope that all schools in our area would one day support us when we host an event of such stature and magnitude.”
