A focus on township-based businesses

MIDRAND – Kasi Business Forum held a business expo aimed at improving township-based entrepreneurs and businesses.

The Kasi Business Forum held a business expo on 5 May in Allandale for local businesses in the community to showcase their products.

The forum is a group of small businesses and individuals who share common business values and vision.

“The organisation is a non-profit organisation that is committed to providing a platform, support and exposure to the small businesses, especially township-based businesses in South Africa and beyond,” said the forum’s Refiloe Kheswa.

The speakers at the expo were the newly elected Ward 92 councillor Violet Chauke and Ward 110 councillor Steven Lamola.

Kheswa said the expo would take place on a monthly basis in different areas around Ward 92 and surrounding areas.

The forum’s main objectives are to support small businesses through the following:

  • Access to marketing
  • Opportunity to trade with other businesses in the forum
  • Offer mentorship, life and business coaching to the youth
  • Building a solid business network
  • Business workshops and training
  • Grow and support township businesses through lobbying, mentoring, and development
  • Recognizing excellence in local businesses
  • Provide working space for young entrepreneurs.

A person can become a full member of Kasi Business Forum and can register as an individual, small business or a national trader.

“I would like to thank Moeketsi Molaoa from Standard Bank in Kaalfontein Corner for assisting us with a sponsorship,” said Kheswa.
