Does Midrand need public sports grounds?

The Midrand Reporter has noticed that there are no public sports facilities in Midrand and spoke to a number of sports teams to hear their struggles in this area.

Local sports teams included the Midrand Knights Cricket Club, Mbokodo Dynamites Netball Team, Golden Knights Soccer Academy and Tshuma Stingers Rugby Club, which each represent different sporting codes.

The City of Johannesburg has replied to the various views raised by the teams and to the many questions raised by community members regarding the lack of sports facilities in Midrand and the high use of school grounds and how it may affect schools with maintenance requirements.
