Midrand police arrest a man for robbery

MIDRAND – President Park victim fights back and manages to apprehend his attacker before calling the police.

It does not happen every day that a victim manages to arrest his attacker.

According to Midrand Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Matome Tlamela, “A man was approached by two men who robbed him of his phone while he was walking along Swart Drive in President Park on 13 April at about 4pm.

“The complainant fought back during the robbery and managed to hit one of the suspects with a brick over the head, causing the suspect to fall to the ground and lie there.

“The other suspect pepper sprayed the complainant before he ran away.”

The complainant was able to apprehend the injured suspect and took him to a nearby security guard before contacting the police. The suspect was arrested, charged and taken to Tembisa Hospital by the police for treatment of his head injury.

The police urge the community to be more vigilant at all times and not try to be heroes as they might be murdered in the process.
