Midrand police target schools

MIDRAND – Midrand High School searched for illegal substances by Midrand police.

Midrand police together with Metro Police, South African National Council on Alcoholism (Sanca), national traffic police and local security companies searched Midrand High School.

“Random school searches assist in ensuring that pupils stick to school rules because they never know when a police search is going to take place,” said Midrand police spokesperson Matome Tlamela on 16 March after the search.

“We will be travelling to other schools around Midrand because the school search programme is also a part of the fight against crime and aims to curb crime from a young age.”

No illegal substances were found in the few classes which were searched.
