A hefty sentence for murder convict

MIDRAND – The station commander commended the detective for a successful conviction.

 

A suspect was sentenced to serve 22 years in prison by the North Gauteng High Court, Pretoria, on 21 February for a murder that took place at Klipfontein View in 2016.

Thulani Nomvethe was arrested for shooting a victim four times on the street at Klipfontein View on 15 December 2016.

He was sentenced to 22 years and six months for murder, five years for possession of an unlicensed firearm, six months for unlawful possession of ammunition and 12 months for theft. All the sentences will run concurrently.

Station Commander for Rabie Ridge Police Station, Colonel Johana Ngoma commended detective Sergeant Jeffrey Mhlongo for a successful conviction.

“The excellent performance by the Rabie Ridge detective is a lesson to criminals. The community must continue working together with the police to ensure that criminals are brought to book.”
