Rabie Ridge police officers make multiple arrests

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police arrested 239 people and are hoping this serves as a warning to criminals.

 

Rabie Ridge Police Station released its crime statistics, including arrests, from 15 December to 15 January.

Police arrested 239 people for various crimes including:

  • 7 for selling liquor without a licence
  • 3 for public drinking
  • 5 for possession of unlicensed firearm
  • 4 for illegal gambling
  • 5 for murder
  • 80 for drunk driving
  • 40 for assault
  • 35 for drug possession
  • 3 for attempted murder
  • 4 for robbery
  • 4 for theft
  • 3 for fraud
  • 1 for theft of a motor vehicle
  • 5 for housebreaking and theft
  • 3 for rape
  • 12 for domestic violence
  • 2 for contempt of court
  • 1 for kidnapping
  • 10 for malicious damage to property
  • 2 for drug dealing
  • 1 for hijacking
  • 4 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 5 for reckless and negligent driving.

Police officers hoped that the high number of arrests would serve as a reminder to all criminals.
