Flavour Festival aiming to take over Kaalfontein

There’s a new kid on the block with the recently launched food market called Flavours Festival.

The festival took place on 2 December at the Nompilo Centre in Kaalfontein. While it was scheduled to be held on 25 November, the festival was postponed due to bad weather on the day and so at 1pm on 2 December, the festival officially began. The turnout was small to start off with but it saw more and more people trickling in at around 6pm and later into the night.

The organisers said this was their first festival but not the last because they will be hosting one every month at the same venue.

All those who attended paid a small entrance fee and were allowed in with their cooler boxes and alcohol but the food and music was provided for with various food trucks selling meals, desserts and drinks.

Organisers said they were expecting 250 people according to ticket sales at Computicket but when the event was postponed it was registered as cancelled and most people were refunded because they were unaware of the new date, therefore the people attending the festival had to purchase tickets at the door.

The festival is a hangout spot for friends and family to spend a good time together in a safe environment.

The event organisers said they were pleased with the turnout and expect more people to become familiar with the new festival as the months go on.

Benches are provided but people are also advised to bring their camp chairs and blankets.
