Building a better festive season for all

HALFWAY GARDENS – There were 45 boxes collected.

As the community project for this year, Building Blocks Preparatory School in Halfway Gardens decided to get involved with the Santa Shoebox Project.

Each class was in charge of doing two or more shoeboxes, to donate to less-fortunate children.

On 4 November, one child from each class in the school was selected to accompany Ilze Botha and Ryan Van Lelyveld to Store Age in Randburg, to drop off the school’s shoeboxes.

In the end, between the schoolchildren and the staff, 45 Santa Shoeboxes were collected and ready for delivery.

Everybody was very excited to take part in the project and it definitely warmed the hearts of staff and children alike to know that they were spreading a little joy this festive season.

Next year Building Blocks will aim to collect 100 Santa Shoeboxes to donate to this good cause.
