Generous members of the public can still drop off a pair for charity

JOBURG – The community is encouraged to drop off a pair of running shoes to those in need.

The Spar Women’s Race Joburg has come and gone but you can still do your part for a good cause.

Since months before the race, generous community members have been bringing their old, almost old and new running shoes to Caxton’s Joburg branches to be donated to those in need.

This was part of the #RaceUpWithCare initiative with Spar and Caxton Joburg North.

The race on 8 October also provided an opportunity for runners to donate shoes, which many did enthusiastically at Marks Park Sports Club.

But the initiative is not over, and community members have until the end of the year to donate running shoes, which can be dropped off at Caxton’s Joburg offices.

These are located at 368 Jan Smuts Avenue, Craighall Park, and 1187 Cornelius Street, Weltevreden Park.

The shoes will be given away at the beginning of next year.

Last year, youngsters of Johannesburg Girls’ Preparatory School and Skeen Primary School were proud to receive shoes and take part in the race wearing them.
