Midrand company donates groceries to orphans and vulnerable children

On Nelson Mandela Day, 18 July, the staff at Joren Communications donated groceries to orphans and vulnerable children at the Tembisa Child and Family Welfare Society.

Based in Midrand, Joren Communications provides web services to small and medium-sized businesses, government institutions and non-governmental organisations.

“As our company is based in Midrand, we felt we should give our time and resources to the nearest community in need, on Nelson Mandela Day,” explained Rendani Nevhulaudzi (28), the managing director of Joren Communications.

“The reason we chose to target the Tembisa Child and Family Welfare Society over many other organisations is that we felt orphans and vulnerable children deserve the same opportunity to succeed as other kids.

“Tembisa is a township that really needs all the assistance it can get. As a business, we felt our contribution would be well received there. We know the necessity of helping others in need.”

This Nelson Mandela Day, the company’s staff were really fulfilled by providing groceries from a wish list outlined by the centre. “Nelson Mandela was the pillar of the nation and we as a company felt that during this special day we should also participate in contributing to making the world a better place.”

In addition to donating groceries to the children, Nevhulaudzi and his eight staff members cleaned the yard and played with the children at the centre. “The society was very thankful for the time and groceries we provided to the kids. They encouraged us to visit them more and contribute to supporting the orphans. We are a small company in terms of revenue, so we wish we had the means to have given more to the children.”

Plans for participation in next year’s Nelson Mandela Day have already begun.
