Many arrests during Easter weekend

MIDRAND – Midrand Police Station enjoys a high number of arrests during the Easter weekend.

 

Midrand police officers made 64 arrests between 13 and 18 April.

Corporate communications officer for the station, Warrant officer Mmakgomo Semono said the police station is pleased with its work rate and the number of arrests during the busy Easter period.

  • 40 for drunken driving
  • 2 for possession of dagga
  • 2 for theft of dagga
  • 4 for theft
  • 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 1 for intimidation and Crimen injuria
  • 1 for reckless and negligent driving
  • 1 for pointing a firearm.

Semono said drunken driving was the biggest challenge, but their officers had come out in numbers with the aim to avoid criminal activities and road-related accidents which tend to take the spotlight during a high travel period.
