Love By Chance building bridges between USA and SA

JOBURG – Love By Chance will launch on 5 May in South Africa.

The romantic comedy, Love By Chance, will launch on 5 May in South Africa. The comedy is a co-production between South African filmmakers, Dumi Gumbi and Cati Weinek, and US-based director and producer Samad Davis. The Gazette had an exclusive preview of the movie at Killarney Mall – a fun romantic comedy that will be good for a night out with friends or that special someone.

US stars will be jetting into local shores for the premiere of the SA and US co-production, Love By Chance. These will include celebrity Terri J. Vaughn who starred in Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns and appearing now on Oprah Winfrey’s new drama series, Greenleaf.

Other stars jetting in from the USA will include Desi Banks and Jael Roberson who starred in films like Christmas Swap and Come Back Dad. These stars will join forces with South Africans stars Atandwa Kani, best known for his role playing the younger Nelson Mandela in The Long Walk To Freedom, Altovise Lawrence, Winner of Top Actor SA, Denise Zimba from Generations and Nicholas Nkuna, who played in audience favourite, Skeem Saam.

Love By Chance is about two aspiring actors from South Africa (Altovise Lawrence and Atandwa Kani) who meet by chance in Atlanta, experiencing the everyday struggle of auditioning, dealing with daily rejection, self-doubt, financial hardship, crazy friends and a mad dating scene, putting the chance at love on the rock.

Producer Dumi Gumbi, who also produced Mrs Right Guy last year, as well as the acclaimed Dora’s Peace believes this will break ground in building stronger ties between South Africans and Americans.

“We need to work closer with US talent in order to gain a foothold back in the USA, so naturally, we are excited to be hosting some of these stars here,” said Gumbi.
