Ivory Park police appeal for information after brutal murder

MIDRAND – Ivory Park police are calling for more information from the public after a man was shot in the head four times.

Ivory Park police made an urgent appeal for any member of the public with information regarding a murder which took place on 13 March in which a 26-year-old man was shot in the head four times, to please come forward.

The police were called to the scene after being alerted by passersby. Upon arrival, they found the body of a man, who was later identified as one of the locals, with four bullet wounds to his head and one to his right hand.

Ivory Park Police Station’s communication officer Captain Bernard Matimulane said that nothing was taken from the victim because his belongings such as money, cellphone and watch, were found.

“During some preliminary investigations, it emerged that one witness heard shots fired not far from her shack late at night, but fear prevented her from investigating. The witness was woken up by a noise not far from her address [when] people gathered around the dead body in the morning,” said Matimulane.

The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage and the police are calling for assistance from the public.

Station Commander of Ivory Park Police Station Brigadier David Ngcobo, who rushed to the scene of the murder as soon as he learned about it, called on members of the public to help the police solve the crime – and any other crime they are aware of.
