Crime Awareness Expo coming up!

MIDRAND – CPF, Metro police and the police will host a Crime Awareness Expo to teach people on how to defend themselves.

The Gauteng Department of Community Safety, together with Metro police, Midrand Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Midrand police, will host a Crime Awareness Expo on 19 November from 12am to 4pm at Noordwyk Park in Midrand.
The expo will be focused on teaching the community everything they need to know about protecting themselves and their families.
Public relations officer of the forum, Tanya Nyce, said the expo was a result of the high incidence of crime in Midrand and the need to reach residents collectively.
The event will be open to all the sectors of Midrand, but it will be aimed at the residents of Sector 3 which includes Noordwyk, Erand, Crowthorne, Blue Hills, Savannah Hills and Country View.
“The event will comprise crime prevention education programmes, reports from Sector 3, entertainment for the children, and various educational and purely entertaining displays. We are planning on having displays from the K9 Dog Unit, the fire department and being entertained by a local artist, the police band and other light entertainment, ” said Nyce.
There will be lessons on self-defense, hijacking and bank fraud prevention, drug awareness and domestic violence.
