New shade for young minds

MIDRAND – African Bank planted 45 trees at Nokuphila Primary School for Arbor Day.

Pupils of Nokhupila Primary School will, in future, enjoy the shade of 45 new trees which were planted by African Bank at the school on 23 September in celebration of Arbour Month.

Devendri Adari, environmental and sustainability officer at African Bank, said the variety of trees selected grow wonderfully in the area and are indigenous and do not need a lot of water to grow, making them suitable for these water restricted times.

“African Bank has always had a green conscious and Arbour Day is one of our annual events. We are more than just a bank, we care about people and the environment. We are living our brand purpose of humanity through banking,” said Adari.

The bank’s message to Nokuphila Primary School pupils is that they need to take care of the planet. “Every small little action adds up to make a huge difference, so do your bit and help make the world a better place.”
