10K Cityrun helps manage waste

JOBURG – Getting serious about waste management.

Not only will the FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun support the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation and Johannesburg SPCA, but also the Recycle Drive.

The organisers of the FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun have taken a serious approach to responsible waste management by investing in the services of Recycle Drive, a reputable waste management company that will assist in minimising the event’s carbon footprint.

“We believe that the FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun will support the regeneration of the urban centre of Johannesburg,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports.

The event will provide the ideal opportunity for Johannesburg to showcase itself as a world-class city. Providing a valuable service, we are proud to incorporate Recycle Drive as part of our strategy to make the FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun one of the most unique and innovative running events on the South African calendar.”

According to Chris Erwee, director of Greenovation, Recycle Drive offers a complete solution to the problem of event waste generation.

“We provide an efficient, reliable and consistent service, which enables companies to recycle with minimal input whilst at the same time making a positive contribution to saving the environment,” said Erwee.

Working with the organisers of the race will also give the company a platform to show and prove their effectiveness in waste management.

“We are extremely excited to be working with the organisers of the FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun. We will be involved in the clean-up during the build-up phase, pre-clean of the route, post-clean of the route, main event clean-up and waste management as well as ensuring that the venue is clean post event. We believe our modus operandi will tick all the boxes for delivering a first-class service for such a prestigious event,” Erwee concluded.

The FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun, taking place on 24 September, and Recycle Drive are committed to cleaning up the city we love.
